You must have a valid provisional driving license before starting your driving lessons

You must be able to read a car number plate from a distance of 66 feet or 20 metres (or the old style number plates from 67 feet or 20.5 metres). If you need glasses or contact lenses to do this, they must be worn each time you drive

  You must pass your theory test before booking your practical test. However, you can start your practical driving lessons first

You must pass your practical driving test within 2 years of passing your theory test. If not you will have to take your theory test again
